LaunchOklahoma accelerator program to feature four local startups

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (August 18, 2014) – The LaunchOklahoma venture accelerator program, based in Oklahoma City, announced four startups as participants in its 2014 program.  The teams were chosen through a competitive application process and will participate in the program over 12 weeks, culminating with a Pitch Day in October. The 2014 participants include startups from Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

“This year’s teams were chosen because of the disruptive nature of the businesses and technologies they are building and the potential to have national impact,” said Kraettli L. Epperson, Executive Director of LaunchOklahoma. “Our goal is to give Oklahoma startups some of the same outlook and advantages enjoyed by their coastal peers, especially with regard to fundraising.”

“We are thrilled to be participating in the LaunchOklahoma Venture Accelerator,” said Chris Schilling, COO of vakargo, one of the selected companies. “Though we are a global company hoping to transform the shipping industry by monetizing unused luggage space, it was important to our founders to have strong roots in Oklahoma City. … vakargo has already gained so much momentum via the support we’ve received from LaunchOklahoma and the OKC tech community and we are truly grateful for this experience.”

Mike Zserdin, CEO and founder of newAnthropy, another participant, echoed those sentiments: “Oklahoma is truly becoming a leading entrepreneurial community. We’re coming together to help one another build each other’s respective visions. LaunchOklahoma is a fantastic place for me to work with others and get the help we need.”
