VentureSpur featured in the Dallas Business Journal and the Upstart Business Journal
Earlier this week, VentureSpur’s 2013 expansion into Dallas was highlighted in the Dallas Business Journal and in its sister publication, the Upstart Business Journal.
From the Dallas Business Journal:
The accelerator is modeled after other similar programs including Tech Wildcatters in Dallas.
However, the mentors the group will provide startups will be largely different from those the Wildcatters used. Mentors will include Jeff Smith, CTO of Numerex Corp. (NYSE: NMRX), Greg Fasullo, CEO of EnTouch Controls, David Tucker a senior director at Cisco Systems Inc. (NYSE: CSCO) and former Tech Wildcatter alumni Chris Fagan.
“In the big picture, it’s really exciting to have more accelerators here,” said David Matthews, director and co-founder. “It’s good for job creation, large companies … and definitely good for the investment market.”
From the Upstart Business Journal:
The UpTake: New accelerators aren’t confined to the coasts or to big name programs, as a launch in Dallas proves. VentureSpur expects to begin working with its first class of startups in July.
A new tech seed accelerator has entered the Dallas market and expects to begin working with its first class of tech startups in July.
VentureSpur, which was developed by three members of the Entrepreneur’s Organization of Oklahoma in fall of 2011, expects to select up to eight startups in the next few weeks. The startups will then go through the 12-week course that culminates in a Pitch Day, at which entrepreneurs will demonstrate their product to entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists.
