RaiseMore Defies the Skeptics, Raises Funds and Grows in Oklahoma
VentureSpur 2012 startup, RaiseMore, was featured in an article on NewsOK.com this morning discussing their fundraising success, national growth and decision to stay and grow in Oklahoma City.
The company’s CEO and co-founder, Devan Twyman, had this to say about her critics, who said she couldn’t grow the company in her native Oklahoma, and that she’d never be able to raise the funds needed to develop her product:
Trying to find investors for the Oklahoma City-based startup, RaiseMore, CEO and co-founder Devan Twyman talked to a lot of venture capitalists who told her it would be impossible to grow the company and stay in Oklahoma.
The talent and resources just aren’t there, they told her.
“I think we have proved them wrong,” said Twyman, who founded the company three years ago with RaiseMore Chief Technology Officer Luke Woodard.
The company was able to close on a round of $500,000 in venture capital funding in January after participating in the Oklahoma City-based business accelerator program VentureSpur last year.
The company has now tested its product across dozens of major non-profit fund-raising run/walk/jog/bike events, including participant mapping and live social media updates; has launched a fundraising dashboard; and entered into discussions with several major strategic partners.
