Vakargo featured in Journal Record Innovators article
Vakargo, a 2014 LaunchOklahoma participant, was featured in the Journal Record Innovators article along with Wintkts and Who’s On My Wifi. The article talks about Vakargo’s share-economy platform for shipping:
“When Kelly Tran saw private vehicle owners picking up ride-share fares in the new economy and homeowners renting their properties as bed and breakfasts, she saw opportunity in the sky. […] The Vakargo concept bypasses the expensive overhead that companies like FedEx maintains by tapping into the services already provided by airline carriers. Simply put, travelers become couriers, using their own cargo space for Vakargo clients’ packages.”
“Our corporate team has a lot of background in international travel as students and immigrants, so we’re very familiar with the problem of shipping packages home to family and friends,” said CEO and President Tran, who came to Norman from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. “When you’ve looking at thousands of miles at great expense, you miss out on a log of special occasions. You start thinking about other avenues.”
