LaunchOklahoma announces open accelerator program

Open accelerator program events available to all Oklahoma entrepreneurs and startups

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (July 23, 2014) – LaunchOklahoma is excited to announce that our board of directors has declared this year’s program an “Open Accelerator.”

This means that all workshops and seminars normally reserved for the participating startups are open to all entrepreneurs in the state.

“Our goal this year in running an Open Accelerator is to seed education, knowledge and connections for the future,” said LaunchOklahoma Executive Director Kraettli L. Epperson.

“Part of our goal with LaunchOklahoma is to help build the entire entrepreneurial community in the state, not just the participating startups, so with the support of our board and sponsors, we decided to make much more of the program available to everyone this year.”

The LaunchOklahoma accelerator, in its third year in Oklahoma, launched 11 technology startups in its first 24 months and these companies have raised millions of dollars through multiple investment rounds on multi-million dollar valuations. The accelerator provides office space in The 404 co-working facility, access to mentors who are some of the top entrepreneurs in the state, networking and social events, practical workshops, personal coaching, intensive pitch practices, and a Pitch Day to help companies prepare for investment and reach investors.
“To build a thriving knowledge economy, Oklahoma must build the entrepreneurs first and then the startups. Becoming a successful entrepreneur is a mental exercise that requires a dramatic change of mindset for many people,” said Epperson.

“Often, startup founders know how to build their product or talk to their clients, but they need help when it comes to rapid growth, recruiting top technical talent, raising capital and pitching sophisticated investors. That’s where accelerators are especially critical to the local economy and our ability to grow and compete on the national stage.”

Open Accelerator events occur weekly during the accelerator program:

This blog is dedicated to providing advice, tools and encouragement from one entrepreneur to another. I want to keep this practical and accessible for the new entrepreneur while also providing enough sophistication and depth to prove useful to the successful serial entrepreneur. My target rests somewhere between the garage and the board room, where the work gets done and the hockey stick emerges.
