Tomasz Tunguz: The Impact of a Startup’s Location on Its Ability to Raise Capital

Tomasz Tunguz did a small survey on investment rates, sorted by geographic location, using some CrunchBase data.

As he admits in the blog post, this is a very small data set and some of the cities have so few startups in the data (Houston with 3) that it is hard to draw firm conclusions.

However, the idea and the effort make for an interesting thought experiment and maybe, with a larger data set, a more definitive study could be done:

This blog is dedicated to providing advice, tools and encouragement from one entrepreneur to another. I want to keep this practical and accessible for the new entrepreneur while also providing enough sophistication and depth to prove useful to the successful serial entrepreneur. My target rests somewhere between the garage and the board room, where the work gets done and the hockey stick emerges.
