LaunchOklahoma Featured in NewsOK and The Journal Record

LaunchOklahoma was featured in NewsOK and The Journal Record yesterday after releasing news of our spin-off from VentureSpur Texas.

NewsOK logoIn the NewsOK article, Managing Director, Kraettli Epperson commented:

“In a very short period of time and on a very lean budget, we have been able to create a national profile and to launch multiple thriving startups that are attracting clients, hiring staff and raising money,” said Epperson. “We will be carrying that effort forward, with a distinctly Oklahoma flavor.”

“Our mentors, sponsors and investor network are happy to see a new effort dedicated to Oklahoma. There is a smaller local capital market in Oklahoma, but we have great entrepreneurs and startups,” Epperson said. “A lot of our focus will be on supporting the innovators here with outreach to our national capital networks while also developing crowdfunding strategies.”

The Journal Record article highlighted LaunchOklahoma’s accelerator approach:

Epperson said the venture pool in Oklahoma is small, so LaunchOklahoma will expand its efforts to tap into national capital networks and develop so-called crowdfunding strategies that attract many small investors online for early-stage seed funding. To that end, LaunchOklahoma will also test new technologies such as a mobile app for managing networking, scheduling and accountability.

Epperson said LaunchOklahoma is reviewing several startup applications – none of which are related to VentureSpur Texas – and three or four admissions for 2014 acceleration program will be announced soon. This year’s program will include a pitch day in October.

This blog is dedicated to providing advice, tools and encouragement from one entrepreneur to another. I want to keep this practical and accessible for the new entrepreneur while also providing enough sophistication and depth to prove useful to the successful serial entrepreneur. My target rests somewhere between the garage and the board room, where the work gets done and the hockey stick emerges.
