Find-a-Founder Wrap-up: Startup Speed-Dating is a Hit!

We just finished a great Find-a-Founder event here at VentureSpur!

We had a great group of entrepreneurs with early stage businesses and business ideas, as well as talented designers, engineers, programmers, business executives and marketing people go through our process.

After an opportunity to do a one-minute introduction of themselves and/or their company, attendees were invited to participate in a fast-paced round-robin “speed date” in which each attendee spent 3 minutes talking to another attendee, exchanging contact information and finding areas of common interest. When time was up, they rotated to the next desk, until everyone had met and talked with everyone else.

A lot of great connections were made, skills matched to needs, and ideas exchanged. We know there was great interest because the conversations continued long after the activities ended.

And we’ve got to be honest: No offense, but high-IQ software developers can’t really do anything in 3 mintues! After the activities ended, we eavesdropped on some great conversations between entrepreneurial technical folks that sounded like high stakes, high value interactions.

Thanks to everyone who attended and made this such a great event! Stay tuned for next event, which will be in mid-April.

This blog is dedicated to providing advice, tools and encouragement from one entrepreneur to another. I want to keep this practical and accessible for the new entrepreneur while also providing enough sophistication and depth to prove useful to the successful serial entrepreneur. My target rests somewhere between the garage and the board room, where the work gets done and the hockey stick emerges.
